Massudi Hakizamungu is a global leader with over 20 years of experience in health, program management, and international development, specializing in blue and green economy transitions to promote climate resilience and sustainable growth. He is committed to advancing climate-friendly economic models, especially in low- and middle-income countries. Massudi holds an MBA in Project/Healthcare Management, a Master of Public Health, and is currently pursuing a PhD in Public Health with a focus on youth sexual health. Fluent in multiple languages, including English, French, Swahili, Kinyarwanda, Luganda, and Kirundi, Massudi has led innovative programs and designed multi-year strategies that foster partnerships across sectors. His expertise encompasses overcoming economic, technological, and governance challenges to implement sustainable practices. At the 2025 Toronto conference, Massudi will present on "Challenges to Promoting a Climate-Resilient Economy: Blue and Green Economy Transitions in Rwanda," focusing on Rwanda’s journey toward sustainable development and the role it plays in the global climate challenge. His presentation will cover Rwanda’s Green Growth and Climate Resilience Strategy (GGCRS), its commitment to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 13 (Climate Action) and SDG 14 (Life Below Water), and the country's initiatives such as the Green Kigali Project and national tree-planting campaigns. Massudi’s work highlights key barriers Rwanda faces in transitioning to green and blue economies, including high population density, limited financial resources, and dependence on agriculture. He addresses economic, environmental, and technological hurdles, emphasizing the importance of tech-led innovation, support for entrepreneurs, and enhanced governance frameworks.
